My Credentials
Robin’s educational journey as a student has taken him from the community college, bible, college, and he finished his undergrad experience Sioux Falls College, now the University of Sioux Falls (1987). He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
After raising his children, he went to graduate school at the North American Baptist Seminary, now Kairos University, where he completed a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling with special emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (2004). From there he completed his educational journey with a Ph.D. in Psychology from Capella University, (2012).
Professional Background
Dr. Duncan is the CEO of The R.D. Duncan Institute for Professional Development, LLC located in Sioux Falls, SD, where he provides instruction in the areas of classroom management, poverty, race relationships, power and privilege and its impact in our society at large.
In addition, Robin conducts community conversations primarily in the areas of racism and social justice. Robin is both a licensed and ordained minister, a certified relationship coach, a mindfulness practitioner and a full-time professor with The University of South Dakota and teaches general psychology, human development, abnormal psychology, and theories of personality. In addition, Robin serves as an adjunct human relations professor at the University of Sioux Falls. When Dr. Duncan is not involved in education, he serves various churches in the capacity of Pastoral Counselor and Wellness Coach as well as pulpit supply.
Robin will join his son Joshua in his venture with “The Becoming Agency.” Robin will serve as a relationship coach as well as a Transitional Life Coach. Robin brings to the table over twenty years of mental health therapy but plans to focus primarily on wellness. Robin’s desire, in this capacity, is to continue working with ministry professionals, as they navigate their calling as pastors as well as other ministry leadership roles.
